Friday funnies

Can you see the ridiculous in almost any situation?  Crack up at completely inappropriate moments? See no reason for levity to be less than godliness?  If this isn’t you, read on – I may yet convert you.  If this is you – what are you waiting for? Join in!

This week’s prime site: sloganizer

Go there, you know you want to!  Here’s what you could see (& I kid you not, this was the first one that came up!)

Friday funnies – be prepared.
Friday funnies will do anything for you.
Praise Friday funnies.
Inspired by Friday funnies.

Try it with your favourite manager’s name. Or your most avoided job.

Here’s what I got with my favourite pastime…
Procrastination, I want it all!

Failing that, try showing this to a teenager…

And how do you recognise a teenager? From one who knows… try these hallmarks

A Teenager is…

A person who can’t remember to walk the dog but never forgets a phone number.

A weight watcher who goes on a diet by giving up chocolate before breakfast.

A youngster who receives his/her allowance on Monday, spends it on Tuesday, and borrows from his/her best friend on Wednesday.

Someone who can hear a song by Lady Gaga played three blocks away but not his mother calling from the next room (unless the call is accompanied by the sound of a wallet being opened)

A whiz who can operate any X-box game without a lesson but can’t make a bed.

A student who will spend 12 minutes studying for her history exam and 12 hours for her driver’s license.

Has a floordrobe.

Spends all day avoiding the shower, then all night to get out of the shower.

A connoisseur of two kinds of fine music: Loud and Very Loud.

A young woman who loves the cat and tolerates her brother.

A person who is always late for dinner but always on time to hear a band.

A romantic who never falls in love more than once a week.

A lad who can sleep until noon on any Saturday when he suspects the lawn needs mowing.

An original thinker who is positive that her mother was never a teenager.

A nonconformist who makes sure every piece of clothing has the same label as her friends.

Sound familiar?!

A favourite site for me is The Chalkboard Manifesto – here’s a sample

This is how I’m going to procrastinate my marking…

Have a good one!
Oh, here’s a corgi – it’s Queen’s Birthday weekend in NZ, one sloppy corgi kiss for all monarchists coming right up!

ps, if anyone knows the origins of any of the jokes on here please let me know so I can attribute them. I collect these things like a magpie and some have no record of origin.

Friday funnies

Preparing for the weekend is serious business IMHO.  After a busy week full of challenges, the last thing we need is to go into a weekend without forethought.  Friday funnies is, therefore, a service brought to you in the interests of effective outcomes and an adequate systems view.  A procedure manual is under development, but in its absence, I hereby provide you with a flowchart for ready reference.

Oh darn, that’s the work one…

Oh no! That’s my default one…

Ooops! That’s the one for when you’re playing XBox or some other video roleplaying game…

That one came from my son…

So I’ll stop now while I’m ahead (not my usual style, I know!) and instead direct you to this piece of wonderful wisdom – and wish you a happy weekend!

Friday Funnies – and some great links

Oh no, the Friday Funnies, full of cringe-making ‘funnies’.  Try to enjoy them – they’re there to help you prepare for your weekend (you know you’ll need a drink after looking at them!)

I recently posted a list of ‘doctor’ or health care rules courtesy of Dr Rob of Musings of a Distractible Mindthis is a link to the accompanying patient rules, I thought they might be useful.

For a tasty snack, probably designed to make sure you remain healthy of spirit and soul while less so of artery and heart…take a look at this recipe for shortbread from Borealnz’s blog

The brilliant Ben Goldacre never ceases to amaze me with his wry comments on both his Twitter feed and his Bad Science blog. He’s never shy of taking on the misinformed or the shonky – and his sense of humour is great.  This is a good example. Voices of the Ancients, debunking mystic nonsense published in British newspapers.

Last but not least.  Let it never be said that I shied away from promoting the hardy souls who toil in the world’s largest island (or is that the smallest continent).

First up is NOI Group, or Neuro Orthopaedic Institute, with the colourful David Butler who sports more pairs of groovy glasses than anyone I’ve ever seen.  This is the site for mirrorbox, laterality and Explain Pain.

And next is the loquacious Lorimer Moseley who, along with a few others, blogs on Body in Mind.  His blog features not only some of his most up-to-date research carried out on pain, but also promotes new PhD’s by publishing a brief summary of their research too.  You can follow them on Twitter as well (and I believe there is a Facebook page or group to join also).

The last, but not an Australian, is the wonderful Diane Jacobs, who is a most prolific reader and linker on Twitter under the name @dfjpt, and also on Facebook with the group ‘Neuroscience and Pain Science for Manual Physical Therapists’

Well, that should leave you with a few thoughts links for the weekend – enjoy!

Friday Funnies!

Never fear, the Friday funnies are here to prepare you for the weekend!

OK I know they’re groan-making, but they are a change from standing on a soapbox preaching to all and sundry! And they might give you an insight into my somewhat looney take on life.

This was sent to me by someone who is NOT a native New Zealander – she reckoned her dearly beloved Kiwi male wrote it to her during their courtship, I don’t know about that…

Of course I love ya darlin
You’re a bl**dy top-notch bird
And when I say you’re gorgeous
I mean every single word
So ya bum is on the big side
I don’t mind a bit of flab
It means that when I’m ready
There’s somethin there to grab
So your belly isn’t flat no more
I tell ya, I don’t care
So long as when I cuddle ya
I can get my arms round there
No sheila who is your age
Has nice round perky breasts
They just gave in to gravity
But I know ya did ya best
I’m tellin’ ya the truth now
I never tell ya lies
I think its very sexy
That you’ve got dimples on ya thighs
I swear on me nanna’s grave now
The moment that we met
I thought you was as good as
I was ever gonna get
No matter what u look like
I’ll always love ya dear
Now shut up while the footy’s on
And fetch another beer.

Given that she’s married to him, it must have worked huh?!

OK, one for the boys now – and a woman sent this one to me too!

I couldn’t possibly say whether that fits with me at all!
And a couple from me now – I apologise in advance. Sorry.

I’m a member of the Friday fanclub!

A long weekend beckons – Manly Jack is going to Stewart Island, and the camera gear is lined up ready to try out some off-camera flash (strobist if you’re into jargon).  Go here for some info on Strobist – lots of fun and not quite as difficult as the shots would suggest.

If you’re not a Kiwi, the significance of this weekend will be somewhat lost – it’s Queen’s Birthday Weekend, celebrating Her Majesty’s birthday, but not on the actual day.  I have no idea why, but this link might help you… It means we have an extra day off on Monday, and there are lots of pictures of corgi’s and crowns in the adverts.

Truly amazing the images you can find on the internet!
These ones you won’t find anywhere else though…

Frivolous Friday – a bit like liquorice allsorts!

Sorry guys, but first up is for the girls (mainly)!

Ladies, if you haven’t ever experimented with real makeovers, today you can do it without spending a cent, without having to get the makeup on or off, and it’s as simple as loading up a photo and playing!  Go here for hours (really? maybe minutes) of free fun trying on new looks without the fear that it’s actually happening in the real world.  OK so I really hate the ‘choose a star’ to look like aspect, but what a hoot if you have a spare few moments!

And now for something completely different – AllPysch Online, the Virtual Psychology Classroom.  If you’ve ever wanted to recap on your old psych 101 learning, you can head into here and take one (or more) of the ‘academic’ tests, like this one on research methods (go on, see if you can beat my score – 80% first up!)  There are a nice set of online games for fun and wasting time, especially if it’s wet over the weekend.  And of course there are heaps of online texts – all free, and although not updated since 2004 (:-(), hopefully the majority of them will still be relatively accurate.

OK, this one is for the boysgeekgadgets at GeekAlerts! You have got to be amazed at the inventiveness of some of these people (who would have thought you needed a mini UV ray detector to carry around on your keyring?

Now for this last shot – never ever forget this when you complain about having no room in the car, OK?

Well, maybe not quite the last thing – here’s everything you needed to know about liquorice allsorts, and here’s a link to more and a picture to boot.  nomnomnom

Have you heard of googlism? Go here to find out – you type in your search term, and this wonderful page will list sometimes-meaningful facts about a person, place, or thing you type in, by looking at the pages Google finds under that search term. I typed in ‘Friday’ and this is what it gave me…
