As the onset of winter approaches, it’s time to grab every opportunity for humour, fun and silliness. I think it’s vital – all that black winter clothing is so depressing maybe the flat mood is just because of having no colour! While the weather today is chilly, crisp and not too bad – I can feel the bad weather in my bones… So take a break, and enjoy!
After the airline pilot had managed to land the planeinto Wellington airport — albeit bumpily — following a descent through exceptionally heavy weather, she came out of the flight deck to bid the passengers farewell as they gratefully left the plane on their way back to terra firma.
The most memorable comment he received was from a little old lady who asked him politely whether he would please satisfy her curiosity on just one point: “Did we land, or were we shot down?”
Why doesn’t this happen more often huh?
…and I can empathise with this kitteh!
Pardon, my cynicism is showing.
But still, there is light and hope and colour – it’s not quite winter yet!
Sadly, I work with some seriously silly people. One of them is rather creative with limericks. I cannot compete so here are a few of his (thanks A!)
There was a young woman, turned green,
Who complained of a pain in her spleen.
She said “no need to undress me,
Or even assess me,
Just give me a shot of morphine”.
There was an old man with a bus,
Who eventually came to see us.
He said ‘Please fix my back,
It went out with a crack,
It’s muscle not humunculus’.
There once was a young farmer’s son,
Who went to the park for some fun.
He fell from a tree
And up swelled his knee
All he got from his trip was CRPS I.
It’s Friday! Another week goes by, and I’m out scouting the internet for health-related trivia for your pre-weekend viewing pleasure.
I came across this video a couple of days ago – and I’m so sorry for my colleagues who can’t get YouTube at work, you simply MUST see this clip, especially if you’re an anaesthetist! Have you ever wondered what they do during those three hour operations? Wonder no more (and believe me, this song will forever be warped in your mind!)
sigh… makes you want to hug ’em, doesn’t it? (more…)
