Knowledge Translation: An online community of practice case study

This study examined the interactions between practitioners involved in the Exploring Pain Science Facebook Group.

Our aim was to understand who participated, what the participants discussed, and to establish whether this group represented a Community of Practice.

The reason for this study was to identify whether this large group of practitioners did engage in a community of practice, and whether this helped to bridge the gap between new concepts identified in research and implementation in daily practice.

This first poster was presented at the International Association for the Study of Pain World Congress held in September 2018, in Boston, USA.

A second analysis is underway, exploring the quality of interactions between participants, to establish how in-depth knowledge construction is carried out within the group.
